Alice Springs
We had made the decision to leave the van in Alice Springs and take the tent for the drive down to Uluru so we could come back via Kings Canyon and Finke Gorge along Larapinta Drive which isn't suitable for the caravan. Rick did some more maintenance work on the car - after much research he cleaned the map sensors which is hopefully the cause of the engine warning light. Caitlin wrote an e-mail and Cooper hung out with his latest friend. Mid-morning we went into town to pick up a birthday parcel for Caitlin at the post office. Grandma & Grandpa had sent a box of goodies and she couldn't wait for the thirteenth so had to rip it open. We went to the Royal Flying Doctor Base to do the tour which included a 10 minute video and stroll around the museum. We had a bite to eat at the cafe and did some shopping down the mall. The kids played in the park in the afternoon whilst I did some grocery shopping and started packing the car for our camping trip.
