Karumba - Adels Grove

We left Karumba after a quick stop at the bakery and fuel for the drive to Adels Grove. From Normanton we headed to Burke and Wills Roadhouse. We had decided to take the route with mostly sealed road rather than put the van through undue stress. Burke and Wills travelled this route on their attempt to cross Australia from the South coast to the North coast in 1861. Camp 119 just west of Normanton was their most northerly camp. We stopped at Gregory Downs for drink at the pub and then hit the dirt road before reaching Adels Grove - a property once owned by Albert De Lestang, a French Botanist. We set up in the Grove a lovely shaded area by the river. The van had faired pretty well with just a sprinkling of red dust inside. It was very hot and so we all went for a swim in the river before dinner.
