Zebedee Springs
Wyndham
Five Rivers Lookout
We were all up and about at 5.30am. We headed off to do a bit more exploring. First stop was Branco's Lookout before continuing on Explosion Track to Explosion Hole. We saw 3 water monitors as we crossed the Chamberlain River. The Chamberlain River is approximately 150 km long and flows along the Durack Range, named after the pioneering Durack Family. Explosion Gorge is named after old environmentally damaging fishing techniques where dynamite was used to blow the fish out of the water! We went back to pack up the van and headed off to Zebedee Springs which is on the way out of the station. We had a swim in the thermal waters surrounded by the lush palms - you couldn't actually cool off with the water temperature at 34 degrees but it was very pretty. We definitely would love to get back to El Questro in the cooler months to explore it further. Back on the Victoria Hwy we headed north to check out Wyndham, WA's northernmost and oldest town (1885). We had a barra-burger at the 'Five Rivers Cafe', recommended by a number of fellow travelers. Actually, probably the best thing about Wyndham. We took a photo of the largest Boab tree, and the Aboriginal Sculpture before driving up to the lookout on Mt Bastion for views of the King, Pentecost, Durack, Forrest and Ord Rivers converging on the Cambridge Gulf. We then drove back through Kununurra towards the N.T. Boarder to Lake Argyle where we metvup again with the Halls. Thevboys looked a little different after having their hair clippered. We had a swim in the amazing illusion pool
overlooking the lake and had a BBQ for dinner.
